Bansko, a historic and traditional town, lies at 925 m above sea level (3,000 ft) on the Glazne River in the Pirin Mountains, 160 km south of Sofia. It is a charming and modern ski and golf resort. A gondola lift connects the town directly to the slopes. More than 50 km of slopes are supported by the artificial snow system. There is also a 18 hole golf course under development near the mountains.

Bansko ski resort is situated in South-Western Bulgaria at the foot hills of one of the beautiful Bulgarian mountain Pirin. The Pirin Mountain is a natural preserve included in the World Natural Heritage list. The distance between Sofia and Bansko is 170 km. Sofia is the nearest international airport and the transfer time from Sofia to Bansko is 2.5 hours.
